    Hi guys,
i browsed the forum already but wasn’t able to find exactly what i was looking for.
i’m trying to make an animated “music video” that will eventually end up on a dvd, or perhaps
as a .wmv or .mov on a cd-r. Maybe both. My typical workflow is to use the 29.97fps SD (DV,NTSC) timeline in FCP. I’ve been wanting to try 24p and since this will be the largest animation project i’ve worked on i thought now would be a good time to start.
I just want to make sure that I have all my ducks in a row before i start animating on this timeline – which will be done mostly by repeating 2 frames of each photoshop image, for 12 frames of animation per second.
The audio is already a problem. i’m using a song that i recorded
in Garageband and exported as a .wav. In the 24p timeline it sounds like crap. Are there certain settings I should use for the audio to ensure quality sound? Garageband gives you no options but I also have Audacity and I think that ultimately the sound file will be created using Magix Audio Studio.
Would I have any problems getting Compressor and DVD STudio Pro to make a nice looking movie based off of my 24p timeline? Is it worth it? My main reasons for wanting to use 24p are that i will be hand drawing some of the animation and prefer to think in terms of 12 frames per second, and that 24p is supposed to give a more filmic look. The editing, animation and otherwise, that i’ve done at 30p has always underwhelmed me.
Sorry if these are stoopid questions.
    Thanks.

Your audio may have a TC track and FC read it as 29,98 fps.
Duplicate the file and open it with QT.
Open the Movie properties and delete the TC track.
    See if its works.

No problem. When you make the DVD from a 23’98 movie, Compressor add the pulldown so the DVD will be standard NTSC.

Thanks. That is good to know.

Hm. No, there is no TC track, just a plain old sound track. I had the same idea, that there was some sort of TC on the audio. I’ve been afraid to start animating to it in case those gremlins in the track mean that some kind of conversion is going on and then when i got the “good” audio into my sequence the timing would be all wrong. Audio sounds fine in a 29.97 sequence but in 24p sounds like a record with a scratch across it…

    Hi David,
Then try opening the music with QT and save it as .aiff.
Make sure that is 48 Khz.

Yes! It worked, thank you, Rafael. Audio is not my strong suit.

I think a 90% of the video editors (including my self) share this shortcoming:-)
