  • help with after efffects exporting settings!!

Posted by Pigglet In the city on September 24, 2005 at 4:11 pm

I am using after effects 6.5 porofessional, and I need to export a movie with these settings, which I cannot find anywhere.

    1920×1080 29.97fps uncompressed 10bit 4:2:2 square pixels, upper field dominance……

I have been able to find the 1920×1080 29.97fps uncompressed
but have no idea where to set it to 10bit 4:2:2 square pixels, upper field dominance……

    Please help me!!
    Thx
    M.

You need to download the blackmagic quicktime codec I think.

why is it that when I export using uncompressed 10 bit 4:2:2 the alpha channel no longer exports and the RGB + Alpha option goes away?
How do I fix this problem?

Not all codecs support an alpha channel. For these codecs, you should create two 10-bpc (bits per channel) output modules: for an RGB video, and an alpha video. Then you bring both rendered videos into your editing app and use the alpha movie as a luma matte for the RGB movie.

If you want 16-bpc quality and an alpha channel, check out Microcosm.

Otherwise, render to Animation — it’s an RGBA codec, but only 8bpc.

    Does that help?

    thanks so much!
so i guess i need to render 2 movies and let the editor put them together?

    Yep!

Tell the editor first. Some rarely use luma mattes. 🙂
