    I am shooting with the Cannon XL2 and the Sony PD-170 both cameras will shoot in 16:9 format,,I use the Sony Deck GV-HD700 to record my edited programs to…does anybody know if the Sony Deck supports the 16:9 format. I see it in the menu setting as Wide Screen format,,,but my video looks like it is filling the screen, not letterboxed like I would expect….so if I record my edit master using the sony deck, and sent my tape to a TV station, when they air the show, will it still be in 16:9 format?

    When you say your video is filling the screen, what aspect is your screen? if it’s 16:9, then everything is ok, if your screen is 4:3 it should still fill the screen but appear tall and squished. either way your video is widescreen and is acceptable to tv stations in this anamorphic format.
