  • HELP!! Voiceover device unavailable

Posted by Mauryd on October 26, 2005 at 3:45 am

When I try to use the voiceover tool, It won’t let me and tells me that the input device is unavailable.

I’m running a mic into my DVX100 camera which is plugged into the front G5 firewire port.

I’ve done this before with the same setup, so I’m baffled as to what’s wrong now.

    The exact message text is:

“The selected sound input device is unavailable.
It may be in use by another application, disconnected or improperly connected, or may be conflicting with a video output device.”

    Thanks for any suggestions!

Is the camcorder in the VCR mode?

Do you have any other firewire device plugged into the G5 or daisy chained with the camera?

Is your setup correct? Try using Easy Setup and specify DV-NTSC. FCP will configure itself to use Firewire as the I/O device.

Have you tried a restart with nothing connected to the firewire ports, both front and back?
