When you import either an asset or timeline it asks you to transcode. But while transcoding it just freezes up? I’m using an avid quicktime ref file. I’ve used this method before and it has worked? Anybody have any insight on this problem.

I would encode the file out of premiere (or whatever program you edited/captured it in) and then import the finished mpeg2. Never been a big fan of the encore transcodes. Hope that idea helps.

If you have premiere – the encoding engine is the same as Encore’s. So, if you like the final quality of the encore engine, it might help with some of the trouble you mentioned.
