I am interested in hearing your feedback on tif, pict, and jpeg files in FCP. This is for HIGH QUALITY output, has to be the best..

    1. when importing tif or jpeg files into fcp does one need to change the dimensions of the image to match 720 X 480? I have typically changed this in Photoshop, however, I have read that FCP 4.5 automatically adjusts the images according to the sequence settings.

    2. if tif is not avail, is jpeg acceptable for DVD format, HIGHQUALITY output?

    3. With montaged 15 multiple tif files in a sequence, once the playhead crosses a section where there are any black and while tif files, the images in the frame (all 15 of the montaged images) distort.

    True.

[celeste] “once the playhead crosses a section where there are any black and while tif files,”

You need to change/resave all images (even if B&W) into the “RGB Color” Mode.
    I’d check that.
