    Hi All,

I have FCP 4 here and I’m loading video from DVCAM. The DVCAM is a dub from the film transfer on D-Beta. I’m using FCP to off-line the project, export an edl, then auto assemble from D-Beta like I always do.

The problem today is that I have a rented deck, a SONY DVCAM/HDV, because my normal JVC deck has gone down.

The video is loading fine but I notice that the TC on each shot does not match the burn in visual TC I always have the dub house put on as a back up. When I play the shot in the viewer all I get is control track in the top RT window, it’s not the same number as the burn in.

Oddly when I load the video, the TC displayed in the top right of the load window DOES agree with the burn in.

I’ve exported a three shot edl to make sure the TC is wrong, and yes, the numbers in the edl do not match the burned in visual TC so my edl would obviously be useless for an auto assemble.

Does any one have any ideas? FCP seems to be reading the TC from the DVCAM during loading, but it’s not right on the clips.

Is it the deck, or is there a setting in FCP I need to look at.

    Can any one advise ASAP.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Richard

Ok well I tried loading a shot in FCP 3 and I have the right TC in my viewer.

Also I brought in the clips I loaded in FCP 4 into FCP 3, and I’m getting the right TC and the right numbers in the edl. Weird??????

Obviously there’s a setting off some place in FCP 4 that I can’t find. My other projects in FCP 4 are working right. When I bring a clip loaded today into an old FCP 4 project I have the same issue, wrong TC in the viewer window. It’s just control track, not the same as the VTC.

Ok well I guess I can load in 4, and cut in 3. Since it’s much faster to load in FCP as it saves direct to my external drive and FCP 3 is a bit of a pain in this area.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks
    R,
