I have FCP Studio2, MacPro, and Eclipse. I have a Sharp Aquos monitor in the suite with HDMI in. We want to monitor in HDMI from the Eclipse. It’s hooked up and working because we can see the second desktop in the monitor. We don’t want that because we already have two edit monitors (computer monitors) for the suite. We want output video from the Eclipse (deck link) to show on the big monitor in the suite from the HDMI port of the Eclipse.

When we uncheck “enable video desktop” in peferences, we don’t see it on the Sharp any longer, but we don’t see video there either.

We load a clip into Black Magic deck control and play it and nothing comes up on the hdmi monitor.

How can we get Black Magic video to come out of the eclipse HDMI port and onto the big Sharp? Like I said, we know the path is good because it will show the desktop on the big Sharp but we don’t want that up there we just want Eclipse HDMI video. How do we turn that on? When we try it now we get a message on the screen that says “An incompatible video signal has been received. Check the output device for settings.”
I’m guessing this is a message from the Sharp but not positive.
We’re putting a video clip into the source side of the Black Magic deck control and hoping to see that on the Sharp, but so far no video.

    Would appreciate any help.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi.

I just got pro and have not used hdmi today but probably you have something going on with your routing or settings.

Do you have looked at control panel (system prfferences) for processing etc. Another thing is if your timeline output etc settings mach.

Try to go with it step by step.

    Hi Steve,

The Video Desktop will display when you’re not using a video application like Final Cut Pro or Blackmagic Deck Control. Firstly, what is the format of the clip you’re loading into Blackmagic Deck Control? Is it SD or HD? What frame rate is it?

If you switch the video desktop output in OS X’s Display preference pane to match the format of the video you’re trying to play in Blackmagic Deck Control, do you still see the desktop?

    regards

    Kristian,
In my manual it says that in Mac preferences I “should see an extra display which represents the extended desktop feature of your multibridge. The size of the Multibridge display will appear differently to your computer display, and may be in 2K, HD or SD resolution.”

In my preferences>displays>arrangement, I only see the two computer monitors I use to display my Mac OSX applications like After Effects, FCP, Photoshop, etc. Does this mean that I should be seeing a third extended monitor that is my multibridge, or does this mean that if I normally use two computer monitors for just my computer that I just can’t see the output of the Eclipse?

I shouldn’t have to give up my second computer monitor just to see the video output on The Eclipse. After all I have dedicated a very nice Sharp 45 in LCD with HDMI input just to the Eclipse and when I check “enable video desktop” I can see the other computer monitor on the big Sharp, but I don’t want that displayed so I uncheck “enable video desktop” and then I don’t ever see anything except and error which I guess is coming from the sharp that says, “An incompatible video signal has been received. Check the output device settings.”

I am just trying to play a normal .mov clip that shows up fine in Blackmagic deck control and also shows up fine in the FCP program monitor on the computer screen but never makes it to the Sharp HDMI and that’s where I want to see it.

I have preferences set to NTSC 8 bit in all instances and the Eclipse out is set to NTSC, HDMI, Component, but I’ve also tried the one other setting which is NTSC, HDMI, Composite and S-video. I see nothing at any of these settings except I do see my second computer monitor desktop on the Sharp if I have “enable video desktop” checked.

    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi Steve,

If you have 2 monitors physically connected to your Mac, you should see a third display which is the video desktop installed by our drivers.

The video desktop output option only works when you’re not using a video application like Final Cut Pro or Blackmagic Deck Control. i.e. If you’re using Final Cut Pro, you’ll see the video output. When you switch out of Final Cut Pro to the OS X Finder, you will see the video desktop.

If the video desktop output is switched off, this happens. When you are in Final Cut Pro, you get video output. When you switch to the Finder, the output of the card switched off which could explain why your Sharp monitor is showing up with that message.

If you have the desktop output switched on and you’re still seeing your Mac desktop while in Final Cut Pro or Blackmagic Deck Control, then the application is either:

    a) Not taking over the video output due to a misconfiguration.
    b) Playing back a format that is not supported

When you’re in Final Cut Pro, did you use the easy setups we’ve provided to setup your project? Is the View > External Video option in the menu bar set to “All Frames”?

    regards
