Hey, I have a stock video/animation that is PAL 720 x 540 25fps which looks great when I play it directly in Quicktime. However when I put it into AE it becomes sawtoothed edged, also when I render it out same thing. Even at 100%. What can I do?

    Thanks, Brian

    Is the original footage interlaced?

Geez, I don’t know, (I’m a little lacking in that department).

    It’s compressed with Apple’s Photo-jpeg codec.
Got it from iStock, they don’t mention fields etc…

Thanks very much for your thoughts,

It’s says 25P so it should be progressive-scanned (not interlaced).
Look in your interpretation settings for your video and see if AE is treating it as interlaced and trying to de-interlace it. In other words, right-click (ctr-click) your video and choose interpret footage>main. Make sure where it says “separate fields” is off.

    OK will do. Thanks.
I have to run out but will give this a go later.

Would you mind if I contacted you again on this board tomorrow if I run into a snag?

    Either way thanks!
