    Hi

I have read about psd problems in an interlaced PAL sequence.

I have been experimenting with psd alpha channel images in an interlaced PAL sequence.

It looks good till I render then it’s fuzzy and terrible.

How do I work with psd alpha images in FCP or FCE especially in interlaced settings as I know still images are not interlaced.

I have read about it frequently but an I missing a really easy step somewhere?

How do other editors deal with psd images in high level projects.

    cheers

    Ham

How does the image look on the video monitor? It should look fine there. The Canvas can be misleading, so that’s why it’s important to check it there. If you do not have a proper video monitor, then you’ll want to change your Canvas magnification to precisely 100%. You’ll see a good render quality, however the colors will not be the same in YUV color space as you’d see on a video monitor, so beware.

If your images still look soft, make sure that all graphics and clips lie on whole and even Y values. Beyond that, if you are cutting in DV, you might want to switch to ProRes or DVCPro 50.

Usually, though, it is a monitoring problem. Hook up a monitor to see your work as you work or change the Canvas to 100%. Do those things and let us know if it worked for you.
