    hi there,

    i have a serious problem.
today someone deleted a whole project from our lanshare project space.
the last backup is about 10 days old.

due to over 200 bins in the project, attic would be the last option.

is there any chance to recover the files on the server?

please help – we have a deadline for some of the content of the project on wednesday.

    thanks in advance
    bjoern.

attic is the only option I know of, man. I do know there are undelete programs out there that work great but I’ve only used em to retrieve old emails and such… never an avid project. There are so many extensions tied to a project, I dunno how it’d work.
I’d hop in the attic…. er have the dude who delted it stay tonight and do it. 😉

Definitely the attic. Depending on factors I don’t understand, there may be an attic on both the lanshare and the local system that relate to this project.

Then call a meeting of all your editors and assistants to let them know that official policy is to make a local backup at the end of work everyday. Find a procedure that fits your staffing and workflow.

On the attic. I’ve run into issues where the default settings do not keep enough data to fit large projects. The amount of history kept in the attic can be set in the bin settings. I’m not in front of a system right now to get the exact terminology but there are two items that increase the size of the attic.

    Hi there,

Attic and a one week old backup solved the problem.
We used to backup the project once a week (fridays) but unfortunatly not this time.
    Murphy’s law – I guess.
I wasn’t aware, that killing a Project is only two clicks away – anytime:
Just press “DEL” in the project window and thanx to far-seeing development in the upcomming SURE?-window “OK” is selected right away…
Just press “ENTER” and there you are 😉

Backups are now made on a daily basis directly from ALL projects on the Lanshare.
We use Terracopy to get only the actual versions of our 160 GB Project-Space.
There will be 2 backups – one for odd and one for even days.
Hope, this works out fine in the future.
    We are only human…

    Thanx for your help.
