  • HELP! Problem with Illistrations in AE

    Hi all,

I work with an artist that creats illistrations in Photoshop, which I then get in a RGB psd Layer or Layers, to create either a Animatronic or some kinda’ Video flipboard.

I notice some of his colored-in, illistrations, seem to be reacting heavily with interlace line and look really funky on the NTSC Monitor but not on the Apple DVI display.

I have tried a number of things:
1.)Going back to photoshop, adding NTSC broadcast safe color filter.
2.)Doing the same in After Effect.
3.)Adding Reduce interlace filter in AE.
Although they seem to affect it alittle, it’s not enough……

Please, if you have a Color and size format for illistrations (to be used with AE) or other suggestions that will help me with this problem, PleaseHelp !

    Thank you so much !

Are you sure it isn’t an issue with the size of any line art (aka: rules too thin)?… as for the color issues, as long as they fall within safe areas on the vector scope I’d think you should be alright… I would think that if it’s already been converted to RGB there shouldn’t be any severe gammut shifts…

    Hi Steve,

I’m confused with this statment: ‘Are you sure it isn’t an issue with the size of any line art (aka: rules too thin)?..’

    Please explain “Rules to thin”
this may help me work with my artist alittle closer.

    Thanks

    Dane

I was refering to the size/width of any lines in the prepared artwork – anything small or too thin will ‘vibrate’ – usually if the rules are 1pt + they’ll work fine, but anything thinner might be problematic…
