Hi, I have a JVC HD100 and bought Sony Vegas Platinum. I have the correct firewire for the camera, and when I connect it to the computer, it will make the sound and Vegas will come up. When I click capture video, it will have a black screen, and whenever I hit stop, it will say that nothing was captured, or it will just freeze. I have no idea why my videos wont show up on the computer. Also, whenever I hit the CAM/VTR button, it will say to change the 1394 switch, which it is implying to put it on HD, but it still doesn’t work. Does anyone know what to do?

[BackwoodsTerrorMovie] “When I click capture video, it will have a black screen, and whenever I hit stop, it will say that nothing was captured, or it will just freeze.”

Where are you clicking the capture video? You have to open the Vegas capture “FILE-CAPTURE”

Then you should see that Vegas has found your camera. You should be able to control your camera from within Vegas Capture.

Now when you say File-Capture, do you mean clicking file, and then clicking capture video? If so, that’s what I’ve been doing, and for some reason it wont recognise my camera.

    Hi
Yes, that’s what I mean. If it’s not recognizing your camera, that’s your problem. What version of Vegas are you using? If it’s 6, someone elase will have to help you as I’m still with 5.0d.

Do you have the latest version of Vegas?

First question: Does WINDOWS recognize the camera.

If yes, open Vegas, go to File – Capture, and then verify that it is set to look at the firewire port (for example, on my laptop it sometimes looks at the built-in web-cam until I reset it to firewire).

Next, if it still is not recognized by Vegas capture, try out Scenalyzer Live and see if it will recognize the camera. If both are no, try a different firewire cable or even a different camera just to eliminate other possibilities.

yeah, for some reason it still wont capture. It captures my hand held camcorder fine, but the JVC HD100 is having a hard time being captured, and all it is is DV. I’m going to have to call Sony and JVC. Thanks for the help.

If it works with another camera, unfortunately it sounds like you may have a blown firewire port on the camera.
