    dear all
i have just finished a creative cow tutorial (creating a nebula) and i am trying to render it. however the render avi file is very heavy (hundreds of mb)

i noticed that the final movie downloadable from the tutorial is only 6mb and it has indeded a very good quality.

how can i achieve the same results also for my files?

    thx in advance

    HI –
most likely you are rendering AVI uncompressed….resulting in a huge file (but top quality).

you need to use a codec to compress the file (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Codec)

you set the codec in the Output section of the render queue….

depending on what you want to do with the file afterwards will determine which codec/file type to use.

may I suggest trying a quicktime file with Sorenson Video 3 compression if you are just rendering for viewing on your PC/CD-ROM or Web. Try playing around with different settings and you will learn what they all do.

    -hope this helps
