Help! Old ppj into Prem Pro 2 problem
Hello,
Can you people can help me please.
I want to re edit an older Prem6 ppj in Prem Pro2. Problem is when I open it, after it’s converted, just after the project loads I am faced with the message ‘the editing mode used by this project could not be loaded. The project will be opened in Desktop Mode’! I am stuck in that mode and can’t change it to the Matrox mode and output via RT.X 100 like I did when I created it in Prem 6, what’s with that?Tried starting with a new project and importing the ppj instead, but when I drag it from the bin onto the timeline it is not laid out the same way on the timeline (accross 5 video & 3 Audio tracks) instead it’s merged together on Vid 1 and Audio 1?
Any help would be appreciated.. Thank you. -

I suggest that you finish projects in the program they were created in.

Thanks for your suggestion Steven but that’s not possible.
Anyone know why this project is being merged to one video and one audio track when imported and dragged to timline; displaying correctly across all tracks when opened the normal way? -
It is probably being treated as a nested sequence. Can you drill into the bins and find the original in there somewhere?

Hi Steven, thanks very much for your help, after what you said I looked up ‘nesting sequence’ and it siad ‘press Shift+T to open the source sequence in the Timeline’ I tried it and bingo, the timeline updated and tracks spread out properly to edit.
I just need to understand a bit more about nesting sequences and why one would use that feature, it defaulted to that when I dragged the sequence from the bin to timline firstly 🙂 -
It comes in very handy being able to put some clips and effects together and then use them as though they were only one clip. It groups them, makes it easy to transition to them, and various other advantages.
