HELP! I am editing a video in Final Cut Pro that consists of 30 or 40 clips and a soundtrack, and in the middle of the edit I am no longer able to get video playback in the Canvas. I can pull in clips and play them in the viewer, but once I drop them into the timeline and render out, I cannot get the video to play back. I only get Audio. BUT I can still scrub, it will still let me edit within the timeline, and even export the current stage to quicktime.

    Bizzare! PLEASE HELP!

#15 White or Black Canvas or Viewer

Shane’s Stock Answer #15: White or Black Canvas or Viewer

Make sure the canvas or viewer are selected then go to VIEW>CHANNELS and set it to RGB. It might be set to ALPHA.

OR…you might be in WIREFRAME mode only. Click on the dropdown menu on the top of the Canvas and make sure you are on IMAGE or IMAGE plus WIREFRAME.

Shane, thanks for your posting, I’m afraid both of these instances are not the case. Any other suggestions as to how I may fix this problem? even the smallest .mov file pulled in won’t play from the timeline…
