Help nightmare situation
Posted by Jb on April 16, 2005 at 10:31 pmWe where editing using fcp-5 on a dual 2.2 g5 using and extrenal 250gb seagate ide disk. The disk fell off the desk and diagnosed as dead. 2 questions (we are not regular fcp users)
1- whats the least expensive data recovery available?
2- would fcp-5 rebuild the projects if i just feed the media on a new disk?
your prompt help is urgently needed pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeassssssssssssssssssssssss…etc etc

If you have the media on another drive, then you can reconnect the media to the project using Reconnect Media. If you don’t have the media at all, then just recapture the project using the original tapes.

April 17, 2005 at 12:27 amJust click on all the footage that is now offline and do a batch capture. If you set reel names for the tapes during original capture this should be no problem, just feed it the tapes it tells you.

Exactly. Just do as Guy says and once you complete the batch captures, your Sequence will be put right back together.

Just spread a bunch of pillows around the floor beneath the drive. That should save the next one if it happens again. 🙂

April 17, 2005 at 2:00 amsorry we are not very familiar with the lates version of fcp the last ones we used where version 2. we are basically guys from the other side of the wall working by chance on fcp.

A tube of “Crazy Glue” is cheaper.
Just make sure your associate is sitting in a comfortable position before you stick him down.
