HELP NEEDED!!USING PREMIERE PRO CS3
Hi, i am doing a promotional dvd (for yates wine lodge-as a univeristy project) using premiere pro cs3, only know the basics and am now freaking out as i have all these wild ideas which i cant make come to life!
I had visions of fancy text, short snappy, fancy cuts-basically wanted it to be funky and fresh.
Have tried jump cutting and reversing shots to make them interesting but its not coming together…Its so hard to describe using words but its general shots of a bar and things happening within it (people dancing/drinks being poured etc).
Ideally wanted lights flashing across the scene and some graphics…
If anyone has any tricks/tips or ideas I would be very greatful…

That’s a common editor problem… But it get you to understand that even the easier looking project usually needs a script writer, director, etc., and of course experience to make it all work together. All of these people brainstorming together doesn’t hurt either. Without that, you are showing up in front of a timeline with a mountain of ideas and nothing to tie them together.
So, my advise would be, forget all the flashy stuff, and start over with a clean plate. Remember, your job is to get someone to get a room in that place, not to show how many effects you can fit in 30 seconds, thus completely losing the viewer. In fact the simpler, the better.

I must agree with Vincent. The best system of conveying a clear message is KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid. Dumb it down a bit, make sure it’s as easy to understand the message as possible.
Fancy cuts are only good for music videos, even they are getting old and annoying now.

I would agree simple is better but the brief i have been set ask me to experiment with this kind of editing techinique so i have no choice 🙁
Just need to try and find out how! -
My advice would be, tape some commericials and get some idea. Watch you-tubes or other sites like that for how people do things.
