Help Needed! Exporting .mov to DVD
Hello!
i am new here. i am hoping that you will be able to help me with a problem i’ve been having.
i am trying to export .mov files, and then dragging it to iDVD.
however, i don’t understand how a 1GB .mov file becomes 3 or 4GB in iDVD and takes up the entire DVD space, such that i don’t have space for any more.what i’ve been trying to do is to minimize the filesize without compromising on video quality, but been faced with frustrations.
what i’ve done so far is to set the size to 640×480 and play around with the data rate and keyframe per second. i also used sorenson 3.
what is the ideal rate such that i can minimize the size without compromising on image quality?
please help!

Export a non self contained QuickTime movie from FCP of your sequence(s). Open this file in iDVD, and choose the best MPEG compression it does. THIS is the cleanest way to work. No compression done at all before the big one (the MPEG compression) that iDVD does.

sorry, this may sound a little dumb, but how do i choose the best mpeg compression from iDVD?

I’ve tried what you suggested…however, the same problem still occurs. i even tried exporting the .mov file as mpeg-4, and that greatly reduced the filesize (to about 209 MB), but once i drag and drop it into iDVD, it takes up 2.4GB…i just can’t understand it…
also, how do i choose the best compression in iDVD? i must be missing something here…can’t seem to find it in iDVD…
please help!
