    Greetings friends,

I’m trying to render my video using Vegas Pro 8 in a way of which allows me to keep two, separate, individual audio tracks, for which my viewers can select which track they would like to listen to.

It’s something you see often with ripped movies, where you can select to either hear, for example, a French track, or an English one, or a commentary track.

Every time I render, regardless of the format or settings, I have no luck. I’m really acting blindly here.

    Your guidance appreciated,
    Sofia

the rendering for multiple audio tracks is done in Vegas.
The selectability of those tracks is set up in DVD Architect or other authoring application.
Render your audio tracks as separate AC3 file tracks in Vegas, then use the Secondary Audio selections in DVD A to set up your audio selections.

I’m still at a loss. I rendered two separate tracks in Vegas 8 as AC3 files.

I tried to put those to use in DVD A, but I’ve no clue what to do. So far my best attempt has me with two duplicate VOB files, one which runs over track A, and one which runs over track B, but no way to select between them (using VLC player) — and twice as much space as I’d like to use.

The idea here isn’t to have two large files with different tracks, the idea is to have one file with optional audio.

Can anyone hold my hand through this?

I’m not at my Vegas machine right now but, as I recall, the online help in DVD Architect does a pretty good job at walking you through the steps involved in adding a second audio track and displaying the play options for it.

I can think of two different ways depending on how long your movie is:

1: If it is a short movie, render it with the English soundtrack first, then render it with the French soundtrack (or the japanese one) then import them into Architect as chapters. You can make menus for selected chapters from there.

2 The second option is to render the soundtracks separately.
When you go to DVD ARchitect there should be a function for select language.

The third option is to make separate movies to be sold in either language.
The fourth option: A very cool one that I just thought of:
Have English on the right channel and French on the left channel. 🙂
