  • HELP! motion unclear

Posted by Perry Cheng on June 9, 2005 at 3:48 am

I am very new using PPro. However, I am encountering 2 major problems:

    1. I resize some pictures to smaller sizes and apply motion to them. When they move, the bright areas looks like they are transparent and flickers. I have tried to apply Flicker removal but it did not help. This is seen on both TV and pc monitor.

    2. I that TGA or PNG support Alpha, but when I imported one of these files and apply Alpha Adjustment, nothing happens. Perhaps I did not save the alpha information? Or is this necessary? I use Paint Shop Pro 8 to save this TGA or PNG.

    Thanks again.

Here is a picture (not good since there is no motion).

    1. Looks like fields showing on edges of bright areas. Try deinterlacing the footage. What speed do you have the slo motion set for?
    2. Pro recognizes alpha channels automatically. Exporting stills from PSP begins with a new document with a transparent background and then the “Save as” setting must include a check next to Alpha Channel and 32 bit resolution. Try saving as a .psd.

    Mike,
First of all, as always, thanks. The solution to #2 works like a charm. However, Deinterlace for problem #1 did not work. The speed is medium, I would not call it fast. I moves from Right upper corner to left lower corner in a half circle manner in ~ 6s. Yes, this happens only on the bright areas. If I stop the motion and in the preview windows, it looks fine. As soon as it moves, the bright areas, behind the trees, sparkles!!

I am beginning to suspect artifacts are on the DV tape, caused either by a dirty playback head or recording drum. Try recapturing just a small amount first. They may not be exactly the same the second time.

    Mike,
I may not make this clear, the artifacts are on still images, not the DV footage. The stills overlays on the footage.

Mike, Out of desperation, I tried this… Resize the pictures in PSP and then import them back. WOW, beautiful pictures!! My conclusion is, Premiere motion is still buggy! Thanks for your help, by the way.

    Sincerely,
    PC
