Help match framing subsequences
This is the first time I’ve really worked on Avid on a big job and am have a feeling I am doing things a little incorrectly, so any pointers would be much appreciated.
For each card shot, I have a synced sequence (a lot of the material has subs laid on this sequence too) and I’ve created subsequences for each one, effectively to use as clips to cut from. And then for each subsequence I’ve gone through and made markers to highlight moments and note any useful soundbites. All this seemed to have gone smoothly so far, but…
When I cut one of these subsequences into the timeline (treating it as though it’s a clip) if I try to match frame that back to the subsequence, instead of doing that, it match frames to the original material. So, in the timeline, I can actually see any markers I’ve added to the subsequence material, but when I try to match frame it just goes to the original clip (with no marker).
In Premiere this works differently. I can match frame from a clip in the timeline back to the subsequence with markers etc.
So would love to know if I’m going about this in completely the wrong way? Or if anyone has any thoughts on what I should be doing. It’s not the biggest issue, it’s just a little frustrating.
Am thinking it might be better dividing the subsequences up into Subclips, adding markers to them and working from those instead?
