Hi guys I’m trying to digitize footage from a Sony z1 to FCP using Firewire,I’ve set HDV easy setup and when I go to log and capture it says VTR OK.

I can play the camera with a click on FCP but no footage shows in the viewer and when I click ‘now’ it says that there is no data from device and to check connections(which seem fine)and to check deck is playing (which it is).

Can someone please tell me what I’m doing wrong?

    Any help gratefully recieved 🙂

try setting FCP capture device to non-controllable device and give that a try.

Please give your full system specifications, what computer, what drives, what camera or deck, how everything’s connected, what settings are on the media, what settings you’re using in Final Cut, and finally what version of the software, of the OS, and of QuickTime are you using?

Trash your preferences. Make sure the camera is set to output HDV and the menu is set to the correct device control, not iLink. Connect the camera, turn it on in VCR mode, launch the application. Does it recognize the camera? If yes, open log and capture. Play the tape in the camera. Does it appear in the capture window? If yes, press the Now button.

    All the best,

    Tom

    Similar Problem Here:

Working on a Macbook Pro OS X 10.5.8, attempting to transfer HDV from a Sony HVR-Z1U via firewire to Final Cut 7.0. Using a G-Drive external hard drive for capture scratch storage.

    I’ve attempted to:

Ensure iLink conv is set to ‘off’

    Reboot with camera plugged in

Adjust Easy Setup and Audio/Video settings

Each attempt results in a pop-up stating:
“Capture was aborted due to lack of incoming data from device. Check your connections and that the deck is playing.”

Deck is playing, timeline data is recognized in log and capture window but a black screen with the final cut logo is all that appears in the preview window.

I have a crucial deadline and a great deal of work still ahead of me… please help!

    Hello,
I had this working fine and suddenly it stopped. Now when I plug and switch on my Z1 the g-drive switches off.

    Did you solved your problem?

    Thanks
