Hello,

Hello this is something ive been difficulties over quite a while.
I posted something similar yesterdag, but now im gonna be more in detail over it.

Im making a video. I need some animations over parts of the edit. I make animations in after effects.
What i want to do is export the animation with alpha and drop it over de editparts in FCP
But the result is pretty bad. The animation look terrible. Bad quality. Like iff it was scaled. Pixels on the outside of the animations.

What i did before is export the part where i want this animation over. Import it in Afx, put the animation over it and render it out as Best, no codec. This is ok, but it takes a lot of time to render it and when i client wants some changes, i need to do this proces again and again.

Now i have this;
My Masteredit in Final Cut pro:
Settings:
720*576 CCIR DV PAL(5/4)
Lower Field
Anamorpic
Compressor DV-PAL

Settings in After effect:
Comp 720*579 widescreen DV PAL

Output(render):
I set it:
Best Quality Quicktime
Color Straight
Millions of colors RGB+Alpha
None Codec(tryed animation, but the result is the same)

What im a doing wrong here.
Is the problem in after Effects or Final cut pro?
The pal compressor maby?

Using Quad core Intel Mac, 2 gigs

Are you checking the results using an external video monitor or TV? FCP doesn’t show output quality in Canvas window.

No im not using any tvmonitor.
But when i export my edit, it is still bad quality..

If you don’t use a video monitor or a TV you really can’t have a clue about what you’re looking at (in FCP, I mean).

Also, if you export a movie with Quicktime DV PAL (the current settings for your sequence), then QT player will only show you half resolution preview. This is because Quicktime DV movies exported from FCP don’t have the high quality flag enabled by defau;t. In QT player go to preferences and check “Use high-quality video setting when available”.

FCP could use either, but it may be guessing incorrectly which one you have.

In that case select the clip and go to Modify > Alpha type.

Make sure your setings for the video clip you have imported match the settings for the clip you bought in from FCP. Sometimes After Effects interprets it incorrectly. To fix it right click and go to the interpearte footage dialogue. Scroll down and make sure the settings match.
