  • HELP!! I keep getting ERROR OUT OF MEMORY but I have lots of memory!

My sequence keeps stopping, my canvas goes red and i get the error out of memory message. Please free up memory and the screen will redraw.

But on my capture scratch disk, and all other disks for that matter, I still have lots of free memory. ANd as soon as i hit play again, it has the blue bar for a minute or two (wait for dsiplay etc. etc.) then everything is fine. It keeps doing this whole thing every ten minutes or so, and its getting annoying.

ANyone know whats going on? Thanks.

No way for us to know from here, too many variables. But you are confusing system memory, which is RAM, with drive space which is not memory at all, it’s just storage space.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Are you using any media created in the Avid Quicktime codec? This is the error message that comes up….Avid Quicktime media does not work well within FCP.
I have also seen this with some Photoshop files that use features incompatible with FCP or have blank layers.
