help getting project out of computer!
Hi!
I am editing an event and all I have to do is tie in the audio with the video and then make that into a DVD but I’m having horrible problems.
When importing the video and the audio the video cuts in parts and does not “fit” with the audio. I edited that and it fit perfectly. Then the problem was that when I rendered the video it kept skipping at parts and the video and audio didn’t fit. Finally the rendering worked but the AVI file is 13GB and I can’t get it out of the computer…
I need to transfer that AVI so I can work on the project in another computer, but I can’t do it via FireWire or USB (or an external hard drive).
The quesion is — can I export a project directly to DVD? If not, what are the settings I need to export the video in so that it can fit in a DVD or so that it’s less than 4.5 GB so I can transfer the file…
I did not do the initial editing so I don’t know why the video is 13 GB, the quality is not that good.
Any ideas? I’m going crazy here!!

While you have said a lot there is really not enough specific information for us to help you much.
Did you capture the video yourself? What did you capture it from and what form is it in (format)? Did the audio come with the video? Or did you capture additional audio to add to your video?
If you got your video and audio onto the time line and edited and it played satisfactorily (I can’t tell from our description)in the preview are you trying to figure out what to do next with it. BTW DV.avi video is about 1 hour of video and audio per 13GB. It is a lightly compressed format (about 5:1)If your plan is to make a DVD out of the project then you need to render it out to MPEG2. DVDs must be MPEG2!! You will need a DVD authoring/burning app such as DVDA or Nero etc. I use DVDA. For best results with DVDA you render the project into MPEG2 video and AC3 audio files. When you do this rendering you can figure that about 70 minutes of video will fit on a standard DVD at a reasonable bitrate. You can fit more by lowering the bit rate but the quality takes a hit. Try just using the defaults and if your project is under an hour there should be no problems. You then take the (much smaller) MPEG2 files into DVDA and create the DVD. But thats another story.
