When I try to run Final Cut I receive a prompt that says: To preserve the integrity of the data used by Final Cut HD; it is necessary to ensure the existence of the following path(s) —– Disk is offline. The Lacie disk drive is not recognized for some reason. Even Final Cut projects saved on different drives don’t load. I always receive the same prompt. Any suggestions?

Try starting up with the disk offline.
Then reset your scratch drive prefs to another drive or your Ssytem drive. Shut down.
    Replug your LaCie.
Try it again. If it starts up, try resetting the scratch drive back to the LaCie.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Thanks for the suggestion Bogie, but I have already tried that and it still doesn’t work. It seems like a software issue, because the drive appears on the desktop. I can open it, too, and see the files that are on it. However, when I try to load anything that has to do with Final Cut I get the above mentioned error. I can access my Motion files off the drive, but not any Final cut projects. The program says that Lacie is offline, and cannot load. When I try another drive to access a Final Cut file I get the same error even though I am trying an entirely different Lacie. It’s baffling. I don’t know what else to do.

Sounds like it’s time to trash your prefernces and start over with some new ones.

If that doesn’t work, run disk warrior on the lacie and rebuild the directory.

I’m back up and working. Thanks a lot Bogie. I thought I did what you told me already, but I didn’t fully replace the drive in replace scratch disks. The Lacie with the glitch was still there with the other drive I added. Once I unhooked the “offline” Lacie and rebooted I set the scratch disk to a different drive and Final Cut loaded. I also did not lose any of my files on the drive that wasn’t reading – a big relief. Thanks.
