    Hi there.

Im trying desperately to learn final cut in time for a job and im having problems with basic position and zoom effects…

    example.

I select the clip I want to zoom in on…

I use the motions tab and I affect the scale of the clip…

    I keyframe the scale

but the weird thing is…. when I key frame the scale the position of the video moves away waaaaaaaay down in the bottom right corner and does its scale effect from there… pretty useless..

Ive noticed keyframes in the time remap setting at exactly the point in which this happens… I have no idea why or even how to remove that keyframe… can someone please explain to me why the position of the clip would do this when Im keyframing the scale?

or could someone direct me to some tutorials for help with this issue?

Thank you, it would be much appreciated.

    Best Regards

    Conan

    Conan,

Time remap wouldn’t affect those parameters… it sounds like you’re inadvertently keyframing the center and/or anchor points. Double check that neither of those have keyframes and are both set to 0, 0.

Are you adding keyframes by clicking the add keyframe for scale in the motion tab, or by hitting option-k/using the add motion keyframe button in the canvas? The latter adds keyframes to the entire top set of parameters which you may accidentally be changing.
