  • Help: Field Rate vs Frame Rate – 1080i 50

Posted by Darren Mcphee on February 19, 2014 at 2:03 am

I’m preparing to shoot a project destined for TV broadcast in China. The spec sheet I was provided asks for 1080i 50 (1920 x 1080).

I’m a broadcast noob, so I want to get this right. I’m assuming the 50 stands for field rate, not frame rate?

If my assumption is right, then 1080i/25 (upper field first) would be the correct output for this project?

    Thanks,
    Darren

Yep. 25fps upper is called either 50i or 25i.
