HELP!! FCP playback is jerky on Mac Pro
Hi,
Since I have upgraded to FCP 6 I can’t seem to get HDV footage to play without it dropping frames and looking jerky.
I am running the following system:
Mac Pro Dual Core. 2.66 Ghz. 5 Gb RAM. Partioned Drive: Applications + Data. 50 gig empty on both drives.
Previously I have edited countless HDV (shot on a Cannon XHA1) productions with no problem, whilst using FCP5.
Recently a XDCAM project came in which required an upgraded to FCP6, this project had no problems, like wise a Digibeta project also runs fine.
It just seems to be HDV that it can’t handle.
I have been searching the forums for answers, I have tweeked every timeline setting, every playback setting no luck.
I have also exported everything using the Pro Res Codec (HQ 1440 25fps) and reimported- no luck either, that still has the same problems.
I could reinstall FCP 5 but this is a pain as the XDCAM project etc could not be opened again.
If anyone knows how to run FCP 5 and FCP 6 on the same machine (maybe on a different USer Account? ) please advise as with FCP5 everything was fine!!!!!!!!
thanks
Martin
