  • HELP! FCP 6.06 suddenly crashing on startup

Posted by Joe Stockman on September 17, 2009 at 5:24 pm

All was cool last night, no joy this morning. Every time I try to start FCP, I get the startup window, and it quits right after initializing templates, just goes back to finder.

I have added some FX plugins lately, but I removed them in an effort to solve this problem. I’ve also trashed my prefs (.plist, user data prefs, and POA cache)

have I not trashed the correct prefs, or have I done something else wrong? I’ve been working on FCP for over 10 years and I’ve never seen anything like this… help!

running FCP 6.06 on OS 10.4.11

If you’ve been editing with FCP for more than 10 years, surely you must have Disk Warrior. Run it on all drives.

Then, fix permissions with Apple Disk Utility.

If the problem persists you probably have a corrupted file of some sort, either media, the project itself, or a plugin.

Meanwhile, have you tried opening a new project, or another project?
