  • Help Exporting HD Video Using Final Cut Pro – Need Improved Work Flow

    Hi there,

I’m just wrapping up my wedding season for 2008 and I’m trying to find a quicker way to compress my videos.

To give you some background, all my videos are shot using the Sony EX1 in HQ 1920 x 1080 at 24p with the run time of the video being about an hour.

I edit my videos in Final Cut Pro then do a final compression using the H.264 codec while keeping the same video size (1920×1080) and frame rate (24p). When I do the compression, it usually takes 20 Hours… Yes 20 Hours!!! Is this normal? Is there a quicker way to compress the video in HD?

Overall, I need the video in it’s full size since my clients request a Blu Ray version. It just takes so long.

If someone has a quicker or better work flow to compress 1920 x 1080 videos using Final Cut Pro, please let me know. I’m just not sure if I’m doing it right.

    Much appreciated.

    Colin
