HELP! Error message when capturing. “searching for media” ???
Been trying to capture and the following error message keeps coming up:
“The clip was unable to be reconnected to the newly captured media, due to the file being corrupted. Try recapturing this clip to resolve this problem” . Also when capturing it says”searching for media” instead of “capturing”. It is having trouble recognizing the media.I have FCP 6.3 on a Mac Pro.
I am capturing HDV footage. The clips do appear in Capture Scratch but they are only 8kbs in size. Do you think there is some sort of compression issue with HDV? Also when I play the tape in capture mode, the footage “hiccups” a bit.
This is my set up:
Easy Set up:
FORMAT: HDV
USE: HDV – 720p24
RATE: 23.98 fpsSequence Preset: HDV – 720p24
Capture Preset: HDV
Device Control Preset: HDV FireWire NDF
Playback Output Video: None
Playback Output Audio: Default
Edit to Tape / PTV output Video: HDV (1280 x 720)24p
Edit to Tape / PTV OUtput Audio HDVUnder a big deadline and just can’t figure this out!!!!!

8KB? That can’t be a video file. Capture it all over again. HDV does appear to hiccup on capture, but should playback normally. Check it out.

Thank you , I have tried recapturing many times, but I still get the message ” searching for media” when capturing and after capturing the message “The clip was unable to be reconnected to the newly captured media, due to the file being corrupted. Try recapturing this clip to resolve this problem”
Don’t know what else to try and I really need to get going on this project.
What can be wrong?

Don’t try to recapture it. Just capture it again from the original tape. You can get the Time Codes from the offline clip’s info. Select it and type (CMD 9). Maybe I’m not being clear enough.

I have been trying to capture it from the original tape… from batch capture. I even set in new in and out points. I even tried to capture on the fly. NOTHING. It can’t seem to find the media.
I think there is some compression issue or some issue with FCP 6.3. Everything was working fine with 6.2. which is the only part of the equation that is different.This is really frustrating and time is going by…. I may have to rent someone else’s set up.
ANY OTHER THOUGHTS?????

Hey man I’m having the same problem. I’m shooting a feature on HDV, I’m capturing with a deck. I’m having the same problem. It gives me the error messages searching for media. I get jumpy video and audio. And the file sizes are super small and the video is a second or two long. I have no idea what to do. I captured once before and had no problems. Yes, I did FINALLY figure it out.
Someone suggested capturing via Apple Pro Res which has been working fine. I couldn’t capture with HDV but it works with Apple Pro Res.
