    Hi,

I have a problem importing EDL files. Whenever I try to import an EDL file, the EDL MANAGER identifies the tapes with numbers instead of the tapes name (ex: “005” or “253” instead of “tape rush 1” or “tape rush 2”). When creating the files, EDL MANAGER identifies the tapes by their name in the “source” window. But when I try to import them, it only shows these numbers in the appropriate column.

Do I have to link the numbers with the tapes names? Can I get these infos in Avid somewhere? Or Am I doing something wrong in the process?

Thank You, and Happy Holidays to everyone

    Marco

If I understand correctly, EDL Manager is working the right way. EDL formats only support 3-8 digit alphanumerics, depending on format. There is no way to automatically link the reels to the names, though you can edit the reel numbers later. Check in your options, for a source table, generated by EDL manager. It might be at the bottom of your EDL events. This will give the cross-reference for the names you used and which numbers these were converted into. Next time when you digitize from scratch only use 3-digit numerics to be safe.

    Sincerely,
    Oliver
