  • Help! Decklink HD Pro drops signal

Posted by Shane Chadder on November 6, 2005 at 11:28 pm

BOTH our Premiere Decklink HD systems hiccup cutting from 8bit SD YUV to DV on an 8 bit SD timeline. The SDI out signal disappears for a couple of frames, audio and video. Even scrubbing frame by frame this happens at the cut point going to DV from 8bit. It is like the card is having to relock at the cut point.

Both our Decklink SD plus systems are fine with the identical clips and timeline.

What is going on? This happens with drivers ver 5.1.1, 5.1.2, 5.2, 5.2.1, 5.2.2, quicktime 6.52 and 7.02. This happens whether there is external sync or not.

My only workaroud is using 5.2.2b (beta) which oddly requires a render of all DV material.

    Thanks for any suggestions

Can someone else with an HD Pro try this for me and confirm?

My systems are Tyan s2895 with FX6800GT video cards, 2 gigs ram, 1x300gig system drive, 1-300gig audio drive, and 3×300 gig. windows stripe set.

    Hey Shane,

Can you try this for me?

Open up a new BMD 8bit YUV project, then import your whole DV project into that. Play the clips in the new BMD 8bit YUV timeline.

Let me know how that goes..

    Cheers,

    Regards,

    Hi Matt

This was never a DV project, but an 8bit yuv ntsc 4×3 project that included DV clips.

I can reproduce the problem consistently on both systems with a new project and two clips. I created a new 8bit project. I captured an 8 bit clip and a 1394 clip. I put the 8 bit clip down followed by the 1394 and the signal drops or loses sync or something at the cut point. If I reverse the order on the timeline they play fine.

    Hi Sean,

Thanks – I will pass this onto the support guys to try and repo.

Just as a quick test, could you try the same thing with a 10 bit BMD project and let us know the results? If it’s what i think it might be this will help.

    Cheers,

    Regards,

    Matt

    In an NTSC 4×3 10 bit project….

Cutting from a 10 bit clip to DV clip is fine!
Cutting from an 8 bit clip to DV craps out at the edit point.
