  • help capturing ntsc, through minidv, into final cut pro 5

Posted by Amirrun on February 14, 2006 at 7:43 am

i am creating a project in final cut pro, and am trying to capture a tape filmed ntsc.
i have managed once to do this, before today, and managed so i know it is possible, but i can’t remember how to reconstruct the settings i used.
have been playing with all possible options (known to me (-: ), but nothing seems to work. (video settings, size settings, capture settings…`)
can anyone direct me what i am doing wrong.
the symptoms and settings of the problem are this:

    – the dv camera is a sony dcr-pc 101e, and supports ntsc. (tried changing the settings)

    – i am connected to the computer by firewire.

    – while opening the log and capture window, i can control the camera, i can hear the sound through the computer speakers, but the video is disabled.

    – there is also a VTR OK sign at the bottom.

so, anyone> i could really use the help.

Your capture preset may not be set to the DV/DVCPRO NTSC preset. Check that.
