  • HELP! can’t render or export HDV

I have a project that i just completed. It was shot in HDV. I used 2 cameras with synced timecode and created a multitrack sequence. Now that I’m done, I’m trying to export a QT movie. i did so and after about 30 minutes, I got a screen that said nothing except:

    “General Error”

So I figured I’d try rendering first and then export. It rendered for about 20 minutes and then I got the same message:

    “General Error”

What in the crap am I supposed to do now?

Multiclip is buggy. And HDV is a major workload for Final Cut. It wouldn’t surprise me if the two can’t work together.

First trash your preferences. If that doesn’t work, try copying the contents of your sequence and pasting them onto a non-HDV sequence (like ProRes). Then try exporting (use current settings – don’t export back to HDV).
