  • HELP !! – Cannot reload .aep project file

    Posted by Andy Stokes on May 15, 2005 at 11:36 am

    Hi all,

    Was just working on a composition when my machine unexpectedly hung (blue screen). After restart I tried to open the .aep and recieved the following error :-

    After effects error : missing data in file
    (33::4)

    Any ideas how I might recover all or part of the data from this file ? I saved it about 1 minute before the crash. It’s still 6.91mb. I’ve spent alot of time working on this project. Has anyone got any idea ???

    Cheers,

    Andy

    Sometimes it helps to import the corrupted file into a new empty project.

    Apart from that, there’s an Increment and Save function in AE 6.5. It seems like a good time to start using it.

    Thanks Bar3nd, but importing didn’t work either… Also, I usually always increment save, just not recent enough this time !!

    I’m so annoyed as there was alot of new expression setups I had been experimenting with. I’m hoping there might be some way of even opening the .aep in a text editor or something and recover part of the file at least…. although guess i’m dreaming… I need a beer now…

    Cheers,

    Andy

    just wondering, are you running Tiger? (if so, Clean Install, Upgrade, ?)

    I have the same problem with a big project and get that error too. I resorted to starting from scratch due to a time crunch.
