    Before I installed my deck link card
    When I captured DV via fire wire and exported as a QuickTime using apples DV Codec.fine!

    I bought a deck link to edit uncompressed etc

    I had to do a project In DV. Captured DV via fire wire and exported as a QuickTime using the DV codec.

    I think the DV codec must be the black magic DV codec as the exported files now say black magic DV Integer (Big Endian). In fact every standard QuickTime on my system now says black magic DV.

    My questions are:

    My friend tried to watch these exported files on His PC. Even with the latest QuickTime and black magic codec installed it was super blurry, just awful!!!! Why is this?? And what does Big Endian mean????

    If I uninstalled any black magic software, and then exported using apples DV codec, would this solve this problem? I’m also guessing there is no loss in quality using either DV codec?

    Any help would be great

    Wow, you’re right. It does say that. Only mine says Little Endian. This is crazy. What the hell is going on? Blackmagic does not have a DV codec or any other codec other than it’s legacy Uncompressed codecs. Something’s not right here.

    Quicktime 7.1.3. Opening up a regular Quicktime DV file and hitting Command-I, it says it’s Blackmagic DV, 720×480 (640×480) Millions, 16-bit Integer (Little Endian).

    That “640×480” is especially troubling. Just as a test, I tried exporting “Movie to DV Stream” which is supposed to be lossless in this scenario. But it actually cropped the left and right edges of the video – looks like it turned it into 640×480 square pixels. Something screwed up here.

    As for the blurriness…
    open your DV quicktime into quicktime player. You need quicktime pro in order to do this.
    go to window menu>show movie properties (apple-J)

    then select the video track and click on the visual settings tab.
    there will then be a check box in the lower right that says “high quality” make sure it is enabled.
    this should now make the video nice and crisp.

    As for the Black Magic DV encoder, I’m not so sure about that .
