  • HELP!! Animation: Separating Alpha from Black

I’m working on an animation. I’ve animated a number of small clips in black and white (black outlines, white fills) in Flash and exported them as quicktime files. I brought them into AE and multiplied them with a video layer. The result is that I have a black background from the blending mode (presumably the alpha channel), black outlines from the flash animation, and video fill replacing what was white from the exported flash.

Up to this point I’m fine. But what I would like to do next is add a different video layer to the background. I’ve tried exporting what i have above to a qt file and then importing back into AE and adding the new video layer but I cant separate the alpha channel from the black outlines. Maybe I need to do this in a different way? What would you suggest?

BTW, thanks for all the help on this project so far! I’ve taught myself nearly all i know about AE from these boards.
