  • HELLPPP! Problem with moving vertices when creating new shape in mask

    Hello, experts:
I am used AE 7.0 on a Sony Vaio PC and I have created a mask of a cup on, let’s say, the first keyframe. My problem: every time I move to a new keyframe and selcted ADD MASK SHAPE KEYFRAME and the vertices appear, whenever I click on one of the vertices to adjust it to the new shape of the cup, the mask automatically switches to some type of select mask mode: a square appears and all the vertices get highlighted, indicating that I CANT MOVE THE VERTEX BUT I CAN MOVE THE ENTIRE MASK. I don’t want to move the entire mask, I only want to change the position of a vertex.

I have lost a lot of hair over this, and I did not have many to begin with. Can someone help me? Please?

I think you double-clicked on the mask.

Try this after the first mask shape key has been created:

Select the layer in the timeline.
Make sure you have the arrow tool selected.
Move it over a vertex (in the comp window), making sure that the arrow changes shape.
Click once on that vertex to select it. You can release the mouse button.
    Drag that vertex.

Alternately, you can just move the mouse over a vertex, watch the arrow change, hold down the mouse button and drag the vertex. No need for the click to select it first.

    Does that help?
