Thanks for the article, Tom. I’ve been running into my own problems with creating a new system for CS6 and appreciate the recommendation of Puget Systems, looks like I might be able to get the computer I want rather than the one HP has been trying to sell me.

Thanks for sharing Tom but I’m left wondering why the lack of an SSD for OS/cache/previews and the need for a Maximus setup.

Have you seen the AE ray-tracing results here -> https://twitter.com/rendernyc/status/208421894792298496/photo/1/large

No Maximus config on that list but the cost of such a setup is questionable for AE. Perhaps it’ll be more advantageous for PPro but for AE it’s way unnecessary.

    Cheers

Hi Roland. Between the size of storage and the price point, using SSDs at his time doesnt seem warranted.Especially since the system Ive configured is costing me a bundle as it is.

The Maximus system is meant to enhance performance in BOTH PrP and AE.

I have seen Juan & Danny’s chart. After lots of consideration I dont see myself doing a lot of ray tracing in AE when Zax Proanimaor does more and looks better.

But for the little I do the Maximus should give it a good boost.

Admittedly, I am still open to options when it comes to the GPU. To bad the K2Nvidia Kepler card isnt due out until next year. That might address all my needs better.0

I wouldn’t use SSD for all storage — but for the boot volume and for AE’s disk cache, it would offer a serious speed boost.

I did consider those options as well it Walter. But the $13,0000 cost for the machine needed not to go up in price anymore. 😀

Fair enough! It does get expensive fast.

Also, SSD storage is an easy thing to upgrade later, after your wallet has recovered.

Exactly. I tried to include all the really necessary components to give me speed and versatility.
