I was at the tail end of a multicam project when it froze on me. I had to hard restart. I tried to open the file and it gives me “This file cannot be opened. It appears damaged” or something like that.

Is there ANY way to fix this?!! I’m an hour and 20 minutes into it!

    Thanks!
    Justin.

Do you have autosave enabled. This might be your only option if you do. I’ve had this happen and had to open an autosave to recover my work.

I did have auto save enabled, I believe. For some reason it didn’t work right, however. I’ve even got it set to save every 5 minutes or so.

I ended up starting over, but I would really enjoy hearing other people’s experiences with multicam and the quirks involved.

For example, this crash has taught me to “hand save” with backup projects as well.

Also, I have learned that Matrox does not support video output during multicam editing. Bummer. I was hoping to see the edited footage on my monitor in real time.

    Peace,
    Justin.

    1. Create a new project
    2. Try importing the damaged project.

We had this happen on the very first project we attempted on PPRO 2.0. Since then we make a habit of “Saving the Project As” so we have a history of versions to revert to should such a devastating crash occur.

I have also had to adopt manual “save as” but, of course, I didn’t start until I learned the HARD way.

Hi Aanarav. I did that, wouldn’t import. I have learned the hard way to make multiple backups as I edit. Bummer that the multi-camera action isn’t supported by Matrox. It works, but like I said, back up multiple copies!

    Thanks, all!
    Justin.

Ive discovered a way to fix damaged or corrupted project files.(they are XML files)

Send me a copy of the damaged file at rmcwilson@yahoo.com

If it is over 10megabytes, then upload it somewhere and send me a link.

Ill see what I can do.
