Helicopter Nose mount with an EX3 & 1/2″ Fuji?
Hi guys,
I have a job coming up and thought I’d try my EX3 out with the 1/2″ adapter with a FUjinon XS 17×5.5 BRM/BRD 1/2″ lens.
Problem lies in record-start/stop.
Does anyone know if the standard Fuji remote lens cable will control the record function?
I can use the Tyler mount to control iris.
I just cannot find out if the Sony remote RM-B150 will control record functions.
I am thinking of using another camera for this project because of this unknown.
I could get a JVC GY HD 100 for the cost of the Fugi lens alone.
Thoughts?

Why not get a lens control made for the EX-3? We bought one from BandPro along with a 15′ extension cable for jib work.

A control just for the factory lens would be great-just a matter of how often it would get used vs cost.
How much did yours cost?
The Tyler Nose mount has cables and controls for standard zoom lenses.
Question is how to control record functions on the factory lens. -
It’s my understanding that lens controllers are lens-specific, in that a controller for the stock EX lens may not work on a 3rd party one. That being said, probably the least expensive controller for the stock lens is the Libec ZC-9EX and can be viewed here:
Click on “Other Accessory” on the lower right side of the web page. The Libec piece has record start/stop, zoom and last clip review functions.

Post-shoot update.
Video looked great! Even zoomed in a bit we had some really nice footage.
720/60p @ 125/sec.I rented a VariZoom EX and bought a 20′ cable to make the run inside.
I also rented a Sony RM-150 to paint with. It also controlled the menus just like it should in a CineAlta.Mounting to the Tyler Nose mount plate went well-even with only one screw in the camera.
A piece of rubber non-slip foam drawer liner between the plate and taped to the camera base worked great.Took off the shotgun mount and the viewfinder eyepiece and taped over the LCD to cut down wind.
