  • Hearing audio while using the ripple tool in the Trim Window

Posted by Tom Daigon on July 22, 2011 at 5:08 pm

In order to effectively ripple the outgoing potion of a clip, I need to be able to hear the audio while I use any of the variety of methods of rippling (dragging, jogging) in the left side of the Trim Window. Why cant I hear any audio as I do this process? I can achieve this if I ripple on the timeline, but I want to use the Trim Window.

    Hi Tom,

Sorry, no scrubbing audio in the trim window.

Wow, that means the Trim Window is relatively useless editing anything with dialog. I guess I will stick to the timeline. Damn shame.

Yes, I concur. The trim window needs some work.

One thing I’d like to see is the play head on the timeline play back in sync when you are loop playing in the trim window. I don’t know why, but I always find that a bit disconcerting.

    I agree Alex.

Please write a feature request for audio scrubbing and JKL editing in the trim window. With enough requests from folks like us Im hopeful Adobe will listen and implement.

The boys at Adobe need to stop worrying about FCP, now that it’s (mostly) dead and sit in front of Avid for awhile. Nobody nailed the trim window as well as they have. Of course the boys at Avid really came up a with a senseless kludge of an effects interface, but that’s another story.

Yeah, and their dynamic link to After Effects really sucks… 😉
