HDX900 to Firestore FS100 in 1080 30p
I’ve searched all over the web for an answer to this, including this forum… everything relates to 24p or 720p.
I need to shoot 1080 30p with the HDX900 and capture using the Firestore FS100. I will be shooting to tape simultaneous, as always… and the client prefers Quicktime files.
My Firestore manual doesn’t mention 1080 from the HDX, the Firestore website support pages don’t mention it. No forums mention it in detail. No, I don’t have a NanoFlash… in case you were wondering.
Is it possible to record 1080 30P into the FS? The client wants QT files, not P2, since other material is shot on EX3’s and XDCam. Should, or can, I record using Quicktime PN setting or just regular Quicktime?
I ran a few tests and had jittery footage in 1080/30p mode. Not so in 720/30p mode, though. I think it relates to my desktop, an older Mac. I just don’t have a fast enough Mac at home to be able to critically watch the footage… and I am guessing the jitters are due to this. But, I would like to know if I have something wrong in my thinking this through.
The Firestore seems to recognize the frame rates and all, it says 1080/30p when recording. That’s a good sign! I guess I can always record 720/30p and uprez in post…
