HDX900 color problem – shift to yellow
My HDX900 had a color issue crop up a month ago. The video went from properly white balanced to yellow during a live performance. It was matched the day before and then shifted internally towards the yellow spectrum.
I looked back at some footage I have, and lo and behold, it has done it in the past year, as well. It’s happened in all different lighting situations (outdoor, indoor, flouro, tungsten) and it is a slow progression into jaundice land! Yikes. I have a 30min sitdown intvw that, when scrubbing the timeline in FCP, clearly shows the change in color. I also have seen it happen in a ten minute clip.
It isn’t a quick change, like a auto white balance or a switch flip… it happens over several minutes. It isn’t related to a camera color file loaded on the camera, since it has happened with and without. It also happens with the SDI output, firewire (Firestore FS100) and onto tape, so it isn’t recorder related. I don’t think it is related to heat, the camera seems to have been on for a while in most instances and already warmed up.
Any thoughts?
