When I look at a readout on my computer of my settings from the SD card, it looks like it is a code as oposed to the readout from the varicam which looks the same as the camera setting. (i.e. the readout from a varicam menu will say, for example, “Master Gamma .44” where the HDX 900 readout for Master Gamma is “00030100.000002D”)Am I missing something?

It was helpful to be able to get the menu settings by email from another DP to match looks on a project. Any ideas on how to do this with the HDX? Plus has anyone tried to match the HDX with a varicam? Any tricks?

Other than that I’ve been pretty happy with what I’ve found so far on the HDX. Nice piture. I am glad to see some slow shutter speeds possible (in the DS.gain) and some slow motion with the 60P. And the Time Lapse options are as good as I’ve seen in video.

    Joseph,

Were you able to successfully get the 60p footage to convert with the Final Cut Frame Rate Converter?

I’ve been snooping around the card file too. The way the HDX saves setting is a LUT. Not a value for the actual function. Its obviously the first thing people woud try to ‘fudge’ with settings. Cant have that 😉

So instead the FPS entry being 60 (for 60fps) it will be FPS=3 (not the actual value) and internally the HDK looks up and says, “Oh, 3 equals I go into 60fps mode)

That way someone doesn’t put the card into his computer and go FPS=14 and get 14fps and hence cause trouble. The look up table is probably coded into the firmware. Everyone knows this camera can actually do any frame rate. They wont make it easy to change that.
