HDW-1800 Artifacts
Anyone experienced this before?
Outputting 1080i60 to HDCAM tape on an HDW-1800 via a Kona 3, 4 min into the show artifacts show up. They seem to be static pixelation and increase over time eventually virtually filling the screen.
Tried:
– Different tapes (BCT-40HD &BCT 64 HDL)
– Fast forwarding and rewind the whole tape before recording (stretching)The 4 min is consistent across different tapes.
Any insight is appreciated.

I’m assuming the output from your kona/fcp system is clean…
This could be a tape tension/alignment problem with the deck….when the take up reel gets to be about 4 minutes full, the problem kicks in.

Cleaning the heads seemed to fix the problem.
