When I am putting my HD files into compressor, they are coming out at like 3GB! the original QT’s i exported from FCP are 2minute clips at like 40kb, and then when i put them through compressor for the HDVwmv’s, they aren’t compressing, they are expanding! that doesn’t make sense at all! help please!

I’m not understanding your workflow. A two minute HD clip can’t be 40k unless you’ve compressed it to something else and it would have to be mashed pretty heavily to be only 40kb.

What kind of HD are you working with in FCP?

How are you exporting it from FCP?

If you’re compressing it on export from FCP (Quicktime Conversion) WHY?

What settings are you using in Compressor?

yes i completely agree! i found these files from the past editor, their is no output codec listed in the info for the exports out of QT, i outputted those files to HDmov. could the wrong file size be listed on them? but furthermore, has such a problem been found of compressor making files larger, or could there be a simple basic choice i haven’t enabled/disabled, that could be making it bigger? thanks for the help
